![đź“–The other day, the men who work at this paper mill had to attend mandatory workshops about gender discrimination in the workplace.
I remember us, the female workers, feeling noticeably nervous about what would happen when the workshop that took place during our shift finished.
The men returned to their tasks, and most didn’t say anything. Some commented on the topics that were discussed during the presentations. But these were the men that we already knew wouldn’t be a problem.
The silence of the majority was telling, however.
That’s the thing about sexism. It’s never direct and full of expletives, as TV and movies try to portray. It’s subtle. And under that subtlety, hides the worst form of anxiety. At least for me. I never know when something is coming, so I feel like I have to be vigilant all the time...
